History of Junior Achievement of Manitoba
Junior Achievement was first founded in 1919 by Horace Moses, Theodore Vail, and Senator Murray Crane of Massachusetts. Junior Achievement started as a collection of small, after-school business clubs for students in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Junior Achievement was first brought to Canada in 1955. In 1963, Junior Achievement was introduced to Winnipeg, Manitoba by four business entrepreneurs: J.A. Shore, D.A. Pollard, N.J. Alexander and F.W.P. Heffelfinger.
In 1979, the province was granted a franchise and thereby were officially in place as Junior Achievement of Manitoba Inc. In 1967, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce chose Junior Achievement as its centennial project.
Junior Achievement has entered into over 30 countries with Russia being the latest participant.
